Bolgheri DOC, Volpolo, Podere Sapaio
The Podere Sapaio in 1999 was founded by the current owner Massimo Piccin in 1999. Its 40 hectares are divided between the Municipalities of Castagneto, 100 mt above sea level more sandy and Bibbona, 300 mt a.sea level, more clay and stones.
He cultivates the typical grapes of Bordeaux that in the last fifty years they have been established in the area: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot.
The winery is currently in biological conversion. 25 Ha of vineyards, 100 thousand bottles every year.
The names “Volpolo” and “Sapaio” recall two ancient Tuscan vines and have been chosen to highlight the local origin of the products, starting from their appellation.
The crown, however, symbol of the company, wants to be a tribute to the nobility of wine and the territory, fully respected in the vineyard and in the cellar.
With an intense red color, it presents itself to the nose with an intense sensation of red and black ripe fruit, together with spicy notes.
In the mouth it is taut and fragrant, supported by a good acidity and dense, tight tannins.
The wine has a great evolutionary potential and will acquire personality over time.
