Castelvecchio was one of the oldest and important Castle of the Cavalcanti family, hence the name, that means old castle
As from 1960, Castelvecchio is a family-run estate producing wine and extra virgin olive oil. Nowadays the farm is run by Filippo and Stefania, brother and sister. The property extends over 73 hectares, including 30 hectares of vineyards and 20 hectares of olive groves. The vineyards are located at an altitude of between 250 and 350 meters above sea level.
Tasting notes: Fruity with spicy notes, savory, full, round, elegant body and balanced tannins.
Grapes: Made with 90% of Sangiovese and 10% of Cabernet Sauvignon
Color: intense ruby red
Aromas: red berries, very fragrant with hints of berries and sweet spices
Pairing: It goes well with red meats, roasted or grilled meat and medium-flavored dishes.
Serve at 16°-18° Celcius

Cold maceration for 48 hours, fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel for 16 days, with daily toppings and pumpings allow a greater extraction.
Aging of 12 months in tonneaux and barriques and further refinement in bottle.
